make sure that it’z compatable with the hd loader because i have a 30gb maxtor and it runs very smoothly…. but i would recommend getting a new hd loader elf and see if that works… i hope if that helped..
its for using hdLoader so you can install rented ps2 games or your own and play them from the hard drive. well thats what i use mine for

can i put any hd like 300gb maxtor on my ps2 and back up any game on to it using hd loader ect? thanks for help in advance =))
yeah but some games arent compatible
ide suggest using a 160 gb hd. but a 300 gb will work. just make sure you have ur jumper cable set to master

just look up a compatibility list on yahoo search and if you install games and they dont run correctly or at all try using modes 1 2 or 3. that fixes most issues.
i helped him fix his problems. just make sure your jumpers are set to master if your hd isnt detected
I don’t mean to sound like a noob but does this work on a regular playstation 2 (not modded)? I want to burn ps2 games (on DVD – R) and store them on my hard drive (60 GB IDE). I don’t necessarily want to put a chip inside, thats why I’m asking. So, does it need to be a modded ps2 or can it be an unmodded ps2?
yeah it can be unmodded but youll need hd loader. and if your using burnt games the hard drive you have in the ps2 has to be hooked up to a computer and use a program called ps2 hd handiness. it will let u install burnt games and also images of games you download. then when hooked back up run like normal in hd loader
oh yeah i forgot to add. you have to format the HD with hdloader before u plug it inot ur computer or the program wont detect it
what kind of hard drive do I need? can you help me please? I got the ps2 phat and the internet adapter.. I wanna buy the hard drive , but I need information for compatibilities
look up compatible hard drives, i use a 160 gig hiatchi or however e spell it. just pop a few hard drives in and see if they format with hdloader
If I buy the official sony hdd that came with final fantasy XI, do I need to have a formatted memory card or format it? Could someone give me a steo by step instruction with the official sony one or give me a link to a good tutorial on it?
well first off you have to exploit your memory card with mcboot or something. when u do hdloader will format the hd correctly
y man wen u cn get a ps3 slim tat hs a 250gb harddrive or upgrade to a 500gb harddrive
cause you cant do any of this with a ps3. the ps3 slims suck anyways. i have one of the better ones that plays ps2 games and anso has multiple card readers in the front for digital cameras etc.

I have a problem that i dont have the little hole in my ps 2 where the internet cable comes … Is the hole in that fat model or do i haveto buy some extrasystems to it ? Response quick i will ask it for christmas

What the hell is the hard drive for? I hate it when people make tutorials of how to install a microwave in your console, but they never let you know WHY you would need one.
PS2 for sale. Bargain £70 with 3 games, av lead, power cable, av adaptor, 2 controllers.

The hard drive is so you can play backed up or downloaded games that you have put on it.
lets say, to play movies from it or iso files of games…

You can store games movies and shows on the hard drive, when you turn on the ps2 it will boot from the hard drive….
