EEE PC 1005HA running Mac OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.1
UPDATE: DO NOT UPGRADE TO 10.6.2. WITH THAT UPDATE APPLE WILL END SUPPORT FOR ATOM PROCESSORS. There are hacked versions of the update, but I have not done that yet, so just google for info on that, I will NOT help you with updating to 10.6.2. This is my ASUS 1005HA EEE PC, running Mac OSX 10.6.1 Required: ideneb 1.3 DVD Netbook Installer 0.8.2 This file pack: www.mediafire.com USB Optical DVD drive (there are ways to do it without DVD drive, but I don’t know how) External Hard Drive Copy of Snow Leopard 10.6 EEE PC 1005HA or 1008HA (other models might work too) Boot ideneb, and open up Disk Utility, and partition your external drive (or a partition of your external drive) and install ideneb 1.3 to the external hard drive. Under “Customize” select (under chipset) “ICHX fixed” (under fixes) ACPI Fix, cpus 1, firewire remove, Power Off, and Power Management, (under video, intel), select GMA950. After install, allow the computer to restart, and make sure you open up the boot selection menu from the BIOS, and boot into the external hard drive. The next step is to avoid the “Registration loop”. Chameleon bootloader will show up, and press F8 to enter options. Make sure the Mac partition is highlighted, and type “-s” and then hit enter. You’ll see all the drivers load, and then eventually there will be a command line for you to type in. Type “/sbin/mount -uw /” and hit enter. Then type “touch /var/db/.applesetupdone” and hit enter. Then type “passwd root” and hit enter. Type in …

@Jullzzzz AND @ZoracKy I answer that question in the first 30 seconds of the video.
@alexander2310703806 No, any hard drive will work, it just needs to be formatted first (which is explained in the video description)
@ZoracKy I answer that in the first 30 seconds of the video.
does this work on a pc (not a laptop)
I know you have changed the wifi card on your Eee PC. Can you tell me how to actually open and change the card? being as all thats accesible on the bottom of the netbook is the RAM. Thanks!
you didn’t really answer the question you just said you replaced with a dell and it works really great so what i think you are trying to say it works but really bad but if you replace it with a dell it works really great… right?
Yes, it works fine with the dell. I demonstrate it working, in the video, as I’m talking about it.
Depends on what kind of PC you have, you’d have to google around, see if anyone has done it successfully on whatever kind of desktop you have. This specific guide might work to get the OS installed, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to run, or run well.
BUT MY HARD DISC IS ALREADY FORMATED and it still doesn’t recognize it …. Not on my pc, not on my laptop BUT ON MY SISTER’S LAPTOP IT SHOWS THE HDD mercy !!!
If you don’t want to download and install the secrets preference pane, you can use the terminal in iDeneb to go to the disk (i.e. /Volumes/leopard) and type “open System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg”
I didn’t use an optical drive. Instead, I used a USB harddrive, and partitioned it in 3. Then I used Disk Utility to copy an image Snow Leopard onto one partition. I left one partition blank to install iDeneb on later. The other partition was bootable, and had the iDeneb installer.
sorry if youve been asked this before, but i have a 1005ha and am really considering this, but i would like to know if i have to change the wireless card from the one it comes built in with to the dell one in order for wifi to work on mac, or is the standard one ok to use?
where do i get ideneb without downloading 30 parts and merging it?
You can try slow as hell torrents. Maybe by the time 10.7 comes out the download will be complete!
I see you have the higher end 1005HA. I got the one with the N270 with 1.60 and no BT. Will it work? I currently have 10.5.6 but for some reason cant get battery icon to work.
Well I installed OS X onto my netbook and its working great. I made a few changes to your method because I don’t have a retail copy of Leopard and didn’t want to pirate it and I also don’t have a external disk drive. The only problem is that I have the retail disk with 10.6 on it, not 10.6.1. How do I update.
downloaded it in 4 hours
I once got Leopard in 2, but havent been able to get speeds like that on torrent ever since. It was downloading at over 2MB (thats megabytes, not megabits) a second.
Right after the install and reboot all I get is the gray background with a dark gray apple and a spinning circle down there. Nothing happened for like 40 minutes so I turned it off. What’s the problem
hi thx for your videos. How did you make Wifi work?
check out my video on how to swap the wireless card in a 1005ha. no, original card will not work. yes you will have to swap the orig out for a different card.
ok thanks for your help
if this ends up working, you’ll be my hero.. been working at this for 2 days now.. i’ll let you know if i get it working.. thanks for the help
annnd i did everything you said and it works great! i used 10.6 though and the audio didnt work, but i got a fix for it.. thanks for all your help!
could i just use a wifi usb stick?
Does the Netbook Installer only work with Snow Leopard. I tried doing it in just Leopard, and I couldn’t open up the droplist to pick a volume/destination.
