   whats your point? People theorise about religious texts because they believe them to be true. Theorising about something like LOTR, which people obvious know is just fiction, is completely different and extremely geeky. It implies you have no life so you try and compensate by living through ’someone else’, so to speak.

   I have another way. Intro scene. When Isildur didn’t throw the ring in. Hugo should have been like ” In view a humble vaudevillian veteran cast vicariously as victim and villian….”
   Isildur does a double take, V throws a knife into Isildur and drops it in saying “Take that Creedy….”

   @jonnoboyd What does being a “geek” have to do with it? If you don’t think about a book after you read it, than why did you read it? That’s a waste of time. It’s not ‘compensation’, it’s reflecting and considering certain philosophical concepts proposed by the author, which people have been doing since stories started being told. Just because you don’t care doesn’t mean everybody has to. Jeez.
