  1. I am sorely disappointed in Quicken Essentials for Mac 2010. You can’t log in your investments as in previous versions, you can’t track your investments as in previous versions, you lose your memorized transactions – what kind of lousy “upgrade” is this? I think it’s awful. It’s just a basic spreadsheet. Not at all worth the money, and just a very substandard software.

  2. I cannot believe intuit charges money for this joke of a program. I was a Quicken die hard with Window, but when I made the switch to Mac I was totally abandoned. You are better off making your own spreadsheet in Excel.

Someone should write a good financial program for Mac, obviously, Quicken is not up to the challenge.

Don’t waste you money any of the Quicken Mac products. Really.

  3. I’m not sure what Intuit was thinking with this product. I’ve used Quicken for PC for over 5 years and recently changed to Mac in our home. I hadn’t converted my Quicken off the old PC as there was no Mac version newer than 2007 to utilize. Once I saw Mac Essentials had been released I was ready to convert. I don’t use Quicken for heavy financial needs – I just need to track monthly spend to loans and on credit cards. Mostly for monthly budgeting – no investment accounts or 401k type needs. I consider myself a basic user.

This product doesn’t offer even basic functionality. For example, it cannot manage basic interest bearing loans. If you have a mortgage, auto loan or any other interest bearing loan where payments go to both principle and interest – it cannot do this.

This product is meant for someone managing their weekly allowance and nothing more detailed. A huge disappointment for someone who really liked Quicken for PC. Also, while they do have a 60 day refund policy, I knew within 2 hours of purchase this wouldn’t work for me. I tried to get my refund and was told I had to wait 24-48 hours as the policy required you wait. So, not only do I know this product doesn’t work for me, I have to jump through some hoops to get the issue resolved.

  4. It is a travesty the Intuit is selling this product. It randomly corrupts my data file so that it is unusable. I have to do a time machine restore to get my previous file back. I am giving up on it.

  5. For years Quicken was a solid performer, but for some reason Intuit decided to remove all the userful features and leave a program that could be easily replaced with a spreadsheet.
