Tutorial for Minecraft Alpha Survival mode (where bad things come out from the dark and try to eat you). It is intended to help new players learn how to survive their first night in the Minecraft Alpha universe. The tutorial demonstrates what to do in the first few minutes of the game (while the sun is shining!) in order to increase your avatar’s chances of surviving the coming night. I dont get it? I cant craft myself a pickaxe……. And I try to make 3 wood blocks in the top and 2 stick under the middle one. Nothing happens…………………… WtF???
all these tutorial videos make it sound like its actually ‘Hard’ to survive the first night in minecraft. its not. if you don’t have any resources, make a hole in the ground, cover the entrance, and get a cup of coffee.
@custommakaroon Are you using wood or planks?
You need to put wood into the crafting area to make planks, then use the planks to make the pick.

The way I survived is I got some wood, made a small dirt mine, made a workbench, made a door, made a pick, got some coal, made some torches, got a huge dirt collection, made a citadel reaching right up to the top of the map and lit it up like a christmas tree on fire so I can see it from anywhere on the map.
i can’t place the workbench down! i am using a laptop – what do i do?

nvm im on a laptop for some reason it takes a couple of rightclicks to lay it down
@MikeyRocksGaming well wen u make it you put it in ur accesible slots at the bottom of the screen and u scroll left and right until its selected, then right click the ground where ever you want to place it.
lol i built the most epic, over water pyramid house. and a exploding penis monster spawned in my house… taunting me…. so i turned it to peacefull,. and teabagged the spot where it was then put toches everywhere
